Urban Jungle Bloggers – October’s Plant Shelfie

urban jungle3

Zsuzsi had known about Urban Jungle Bloggers before but I only met with the blog styling initiative at Amsterdam. It’s a wonderful monthly challenge that invites bloggers to submit posts of plants based on a given theme — October’s was “Plant Shelfie,” a theme which simultaneously combines my love of puns and plants…I just had to post.

Plant Shelfie was just a little bit difficult for me to arrange because I’ve just moved apartments. I’m working with a bare minimum of furniture, just the essentials (you know, like the absolutely indispensable upright ;)), so I had to get a bit creative for this one and find a shelf first. I stacked my well-loved collection of succulents and cacti around my rubber plant, and whatever the bad hair day looking yellow flowered dude is on the left. The mini herb garden with my mints and basil gets a spot above the ivories as well — I was very pleased with the hints of mint green around the photo as well. I quite liked the arrangement of my greens, so some of the plants have actually stayed on top of the piano after the shoot (unless they’re being watered of course:)).

Meanwhile, a look at the other posts on UBJ’s website was a delightful treat — there are some great stylists and plant lovers out there!
