#UJB March: The Goose’s Golden Eggs

This month, Urban Jungle Bloggers challenged us with an Easter decoration theme. We had to photograph our plants with any Easter themed decoration and blog about it. Last year I was already very excited about golden eggs, but Myreille’s own golden eggs got there first, so in 2014 I demonstrated a pastel egg painting technique on the blog.

In Easter time, everyone always things of Spring flavored candy colors. Faint pastels, and a lot of yellow and red. This year I broke with this tradition and used a much harder and darker composition. Of course this doesn’t bring to mind cheerful thoughts of Easter morning, but rather thoughts of Good Friday. Dark and moody. The eggs are foreshadowing the happy holiday. I don’t know whether I will set the table with a black or a white tablecloth. I think black would be really special, but then I have to sew one first. In this case I’ll definitely secure a few branches of Golden Chain, because that’s gold and cheerful as well.

I painted the eggs with gold spraypaint. I put them in a paper box and sprayed them in thin layers near an open window. Then I turned them around and kept adding layers until I achieved a pretty, even gold layer. These are completely raw still, on Easter I might hollow some out and add a thick black satin ribbon to them. That will look wonderful with the golden chain!
