It’s my third year going to The Hive Conference, a gathering for digital storytellers, trendsetters and European bloggers. This year the conference was in Berlin again, at the Scandic Hotel at Potsdamer Platz which was a great choice, because it was incredibly accessible from the airport and provided great service!
For those who know me, you know that I really love to travel. Alone, with my family, with or without the kids…anything goes! In the past 3 years however, we haven’t been anywhere alone with my husband (not even a weekend at home! :$). So it was high time to spend time away from home, as a couple, or almost as just a couple….And it finally came through. We’ve been making these plans since November and in February we set forth. Our target destination was Paris!
Berlin was at once crazy, relaxed, touristy, local, warm (but actually, you guessed it, pretty freezing) and probably everything in between! I dropped some hints earlier about how my buddy George and I were traveling to Berlin for the CTM Music and Arts Festival. I love being able to visit a city for a longer period of time than a weekend…I won’t pretend that 8 or 9 days gave us enough time to even skim the surface of the bubbling cultural pot of the Millenium City, but we certainly got to hit a lot of the major (and some more niche) spots and even found some unmapped treasures of our own… [Read more…]
Maybe it was the glowing autumnal colors of the fall foliage, or the reflecting red brick houses lining the streets, or just that deep Eastern European vibe that warms my soul like a good dose of Zubrowka, but I took a shine to Krakow from our first moments together. In the off times between concerts and installations I did some wandering, both alone and with some Slovak travel mates…I didn’t have to go far to find things I didn’t know I was looking for.
